Brief
To design a series of magazine adverts for European Golf Design – the golf course design company of IMG and The European Tour – that would grab the readers' attention, tell them who EGD are and give an insight into the company's personality. The aim was also to help them stand out in a very safe and conservative market. The adverts appeared in leading golf industry publications.
Challenges
To challenge industry stereotypes which consistently use golf course photography in publications that feature lots of golf course photography and are all very green!
Results
EGD became the talk of the industry, causing a real stir with the campaign. They quickly differentiated themselves, becoming known as creative innovators (not to mention industry rebels) and building a really dynamic profile.
Marketplace in action
Marketplace Creative designed the adverts to have maximum impact in a publication (and industry) filled to saturation with perfect, softly lit, colour golf course shots (*yawn*). We used gritty, witty, monochrome snapshots filled with character and personality. When flicking through the magazine, the ads stop you in your tracks and make you investigate what they're all about – mission accomplished.
